The name was changed in 1998 when the Ice Den, original home of the Phoenix Coyotes, became the club\'s home rink. The Glens Falls Figure Skating Club is a non-profit organization based at the Glens Falls Civic Center, sanctioned by the United States Figure Skating Association, whose purpose is to promote the sport of skating to children and adults of all skill levels and ages. Our membership runs from July 1 - June 30th. Our actual skating season generally runs from late September to early April each year for approximately 20 weeks. Session fees are set at the beginning of each season and are based solely on the cost of providing our services and programs. These costs include ice rental, professional fees, insurance, mailings, etc. Refunds are given for medical reasons only. Fund raising or assessment fees may be instituted as needed during the season. New members are always welcome. Fees will be pro-rated for members joining after the start of the season.
We are a small club but offer all levels of skating from beginner to competitive. We have 2 nationally certified coaches and skate 9 hours per week.
The Jefferson City Figure Skating Club (JCFSC), established in 1962, is a tax-exempt U.S. Figure Skating member club. JCFSC is co-sponsored by the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department. JCFSC provides skaters of all ages and ability levels the opportunity to develop their figure skating skills in a controlled atmosphere.
Founded in 1937, the Kansas City Figure Skating Club (KCFSC) is one of the oldest clubs in the metropolitan area. Its charter was established in the mid 1970's, when the new Fox Hill Ice Arena (located in Overland Park, KS) opened and became the club's official home ice rink. Although Fox Hill closed in the mid 1980's, the KCFSC was still active, and eventually used the Crown Center Ice Terrace as their home rink. In 1995, Ice Sports (formerly called The Rinks) opened its doors in Shawnee, Kansas, and served as the club's home for several years. A move was made to AMF Ice Chateau in Overland Park, KS in the fall of 2004 and the club remained there until its closure in June of 2007. The club has now returned to Ice Sports in Shawnee. Our Kansas City Figure Skating Club members train and practice at all the skating rinks in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Every April, KCFSC hosts Skate Kansas City, one of the largest skating competitions in the area, with clubs represented from the region as well as from the east or west coast. A Living Legacy
Since the inception of the Memorial Fund in 1961, due to the generosity of family, friends, fans, corporations and foundations, figure skating clubs and athletes throughout the country, has provided millions in financial support has been awarded to thousands of figure skating athletes to assist with skating related and academic expenses.
Early recipients of the Memorial Fund include Olympic Champions Peggy Flemming, Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton and most recently the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Olympic Champion, Evan Lysacek and teammates Charlie White, Emily Samuelson and Evan Bates, Jeremy Abbott and Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig.
The Memorial Fund doesn't just provide assistance to the senior skaters in the spotlight. The Memorial Fund also provides assistance to juvenile, intermediate, novice and junior skaters as well, who demonstrate financial need and promise.
Additionally, the Memorial Fund provides academic tuition assistance for skaters attending institutions of higher education to assist them in achieving their goals in life off the ice as well.
Gifts to the Memorial Fund come in all forms and sizes. Every gift adds to the endowment and helps to generate the earnings that the Memorial Fund Committee has available to award to athletes each year. Annual gifts, gifts of stock, bequests, life insurance - these are just some of the ways you can support the U.S. Figure Skating Memorial Fund and help to build the champions of today and tomorrow!
Washington Figure Skating Club has approximately 800 members, primarily in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Founded in 1938 and a member of USFSA, we hosted the 2010 South Atlantic Regional Championships.
